«An-12. Flying up»

This painting was made en plein air right at the air force museum — and for me it’s not just about the aircraft. Aviation is the history of my family, the history of my dad. He was a military pilot and flew many machines — from training L-29s and An-24s to military transport An-12s and An-72s and the passenger Tu-154. But it was the An-12 that for many years was his breadwinner and faithful “winged friend” in Afghanistan. From the outside this plane looks like an immovable giant, overwhelming in its power — but I know what my dad knew: in the hands of an experienced pilot it becomes surprisingly obedient and maneuverable. The painting is about how something huge and menacing in appearance actually rests on skill and the trust between a person and a machine.

This painting was exhibited at the «Sky. Colors. Aircrafts» exhibition at the Central Museum of the Russian Air Force in Monino.

It will make your interior cosy and unique.

The edges of the painting are painted, so it can be hung on the wall without a framing. Hanging hardware included. Please note that colours and saturation may differ slightly from the original — the monitor's setting can affect them too.
